Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel and jazz in his signature style. Sunshine has performed everywhere from Broadway through the Democratic National Convention to the European music scene and the club scenes. Her real name is Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta the place she was raised is Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical path began at church, where she sang and played piano. She attended Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training in the Atlanta's R&B scene. The band was hired as the principal keyboardist for Tyler Perry's play Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award winner) approached her for a position as director of the choral section of Dreamgirls in Atlanta in the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine received national attention for 4 performances a day during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Sunshine was chosen to sing as part of the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
