Sasha Allen is the transgender openly transgender female singer who made it to the Live Shows on The Voice, made history in their first appearance. She was the first during the 21 years of The Vocal contests Sasha was able to get past to the Battle Rounds. The Newtown duo of Jim Allen and Sasha Allen have made it to the top 8 in the 21-year history of the live shows on The Voice! Sasha announced that he is transgender as part of their Blind Auditions package. He said to Parade.com that it was a long process in making that choice. Sasha stated that it was a struggle to choose because he needed to display a vulnerable aspect of himself in public in front of millions. He made the transition while the time was when he was in high school. The fans' support as well as the effects that this can have on the people around, even though it was difficult and was the main reason that made Sasha that this transition was beneficial. "We played it before The Voice was even a event in our lives. We were ecstatic to receive it. It was a song we were familiar with and had some concepts to create. It was quite amazing to see how well the fans hit the nail on the head."
